Dr. Amy Paranachnowitsch, from the UNBF Biology Department, will present her seminar on “Floral chemistry from an evolutionary ecology perspective”. Faculty, staff, and graduate students are welcome to attend on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. in Room 303 of FJ Toole Hall. As part of the Graduate Seminar Program, all Chemistry graduate students are expected to attend these department seminars.

The UNB Mathematics Society is bringing back our SPEAKER SERIES! Our first instalment of 2019 will feature Dr. Barry Monson, honorary research professor in polytopes, discrete and classical geometry. The talk will explore the strange behaviour of knots, links, and braids.

Dr. Jeffrey Richards from the University of British Columbia presents on the topic of Mechanisms and Evolution of Hypoxia Tolerance in Intertidal Fishes.

Living on the Edge is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. In the simulation, participants assume the role of a different family member facing poverty. It is a simulation, not a game. The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by members of their community. Some families are newly unemployed, some are recently disserted by the “breadwinner”, some are homeless, and some are recipients of social assistance either with or without additional earned income. Others are senior citizens receiving disability or pension, or grandparents raising their grandchildren.
