Jr. Editor in Chief

Position Title: Jr. Editor in Chief

Term: April 2023-March 2024


Position Description

The Jr. Editor in Chief works closely with the Editor-in-Chief to ensure articles are accessible and suitable for the public, and serves as the primary connection between the Writers and Editors of the ASRJ. As Jr. Editor in Chief, you will learn the responsibilities of the Editor-In-Chief and what is required to operate the article and editing aspects of the ASRJ. The Jr. Editor in Chief should be organized and enthusiastic about the writing/editing process. They do not necessarily need editing experience, however, this is an asset.


After 1 year, the Jr. Editor in Chief moves into the Editor in Chief position, however they can be removed from this position if the Board of Directors does not feel they are suitably qualified.


The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Editor-In-Chief in organizing the editing process

  • Ensuring articles are targeting relevant topics that not only feature local research but are meaningful to the reader base

  • Working with the Editor-In-Chief to publish articles 

  • Collaborate with the Editor-In-Chief to organize and run editor meetings.

Events Director (2)

Position Title: Events Director (2)

Term: April 2023-March 2024


Position Description

The Events director(s) organize(s)events and external services. As Events Director, you will develop new initiatives, improve upon the current structures in place, and focus on increasing student engagement. The events director(s) will develop events which are inclusive and accessible to everyone. The Events Director(s) should be organized, creative, and be comfortable reaching out to new people. 


This is a 1 year position. 


The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to 

  • Organizing the SPIRE series of events ( i.e. SCIspire, ARTspire, ENGspire). The details of the events are flexible to change.

  • Collaborating with the Chair and Jr. Chair  to organize fundraisers.

Outreach Director

Position Title: ASRJ Outreach Director

Term: April 2023-March 2024


Position Description

The Outreach Director leads recruitment of new members whose values align with those of the ASRJ. As Outreach Director, you will connect with new students at UNB and other universities, with the eventual goal of starting new ASRJ Chapters at other universities in Atlantic Canada. The Outreach Director should be outgoing and enjoy connecting with people. 


This is a 1 year position. 


The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the recruitment of new members to increase involvement with the ASRJ. 

  • Developing newsletters to recap past events and articles and highlight upcoming activities of the journal

  • Maintain and develop relationships with partner universities 

  • Lead member recruitment and outreach to other Atlantic Canadian universities for the ASRJ

Internal Affairs Director (2)

Position Title: ASRJ Internal Affairs Director (2)

Term: April 2023-March 2024


Position Description

The Internal Affairs Director fosters a sense of community within the ASRJ by leading initiatives and activities directly related to members, and maintaining and improving online platforms. As Internal Affairs Director, you will be responsible for managing various social media accounts held by the ASRJ and bridging the gap between the Board of Directors and the members. The Internal Affairs Director should be an excellent communicator who enjoys connecting people and has creative ideas on the promotion of ASRJ initiatives.

This is a 1 year position. 

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Developing social events and newsletters for the members alongside the Event director(s). These events should focus on forming a sense of belongingness and cohesiveness within the ASRJ.

  • Sending reminders to members about general meetings and events

  • Keeping meeting minutes

  • Posting all articles, initiatives and events on relevant social media platforms (i.e. instagram, facebook, twitter, linkedin)

  • Creating and posting social media initiatives (i.e. good study spot series, prize draws, and fundraisers)

  • Leading the design of new logos and branding items if necessary

Jr. Chair

Position Title: ASRJ Jr. Chair

Position Description

The Junior Chair works closely with the Chair to oversee all activities of the ASRJ. As Junior Chair, you will learn the responsibilities of the Chair and how to operate the ASRJ. The Jr. Chair must be passionate about the mission and values of the ASRJ. They should be motivated and have a clear vision for how to improve the organization. 

After 1 year, the Jr. Chair moves into the Chair position, however they can be removed from this position if the Board of Directors does not feel they are suitably qualified. 

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Chair

  • Volunteering at and organizing events alongside the Event Director(s)

  • Communicating with partner organizations

  • Developing at least one new initiative with the ASRJ
