Gobinda Saha- PhD, Director NCM Laboratory
University of New Brunswick - Professor, Mechanical Engineering
UNB’s Nanocomposites and Mechanics Laboratory (NCM Lab), under Dr. Gobinda Saha’s leadership, is working on developing new technologies and industry innovation targeted to build a better Canadian manufacturing landscape. Through national and international collaboration our contribution has made way to new technology development for clean transportation infrastructure (rail/aviation), high-speed ballistic threat mitigation, high-wear-resistant materials for industrial manufacturing. Our core focus is on nanostructured cermet (ceramic-metallic) and biomass-derived composite materials design, synthesis, additive manufacturing, testing and characterization, and recycling of materials to create lightweight, superior-strength, biocompatible, and extended materials and components/devices.
Dr. Cobinda Saga is open to summer internships or co-op positions. To give an idea, every year, NCM Lab hires, trains between 8 to 10 summer and Co-Op undergraduate research students. This is, in fact, a core mandate of the lab and in addition to a team of dedicated full-time graduate (Master’s and Ph.D.) students, and postdoctoral researchers.
