Chloe Jardine - Law School
To start off, say a little about yourself, your interests, undergraduate degree and what you are doing now. “I graduated from UNB’s Renaissance College in 2019 and came right back to UNB to study law. I am originally from Montague PEI, but now also call Fredericton home. I am entering my second year of law and can usually be found wandering the city for a good cup of coffee or binging crime documentaries.”
What factors played into your decision to attend law school? “I knew when I started my undergrad that I wanted to pursue another degree, but I wasn’t always sure it would be law school. I fell in love with political science and writing, so thought law school would be a logical next step.”
How did being a member of the ASRJ impact the trajectory of your academic career? “I was involved with the ASRJ for a couple years in its beginning stages and had the opportunity to meet so many people during that time. Getting to interact with so many people helped me build strong communication skills, build a diverse network, and learn about so many innovative careers. All of this was valuable in helping me reach law school, and in helping me carve out a future career.”
How did you prepare for the application process? “I started preparing for the application process by reaching out to current law students and alumni to get a better understanding of the process. Next, I put together an application package that I felt represented my strengths and experiences. All I could do from there was wait.”
What would your best advice be to incoming students interested in law school? “Study something you’re passionate about and get involved in things you love. If you are filling your time with things you care about, you are most likely to do well and build valuable relationships that will help you reach your law school goal.”
